The Challenge
Spider Grills, a new brand in the outdoor grilling space, had a great product but lacked a dedicated affiliate marketing channel. They needed a partner who could build and scale a brand new program from scratch, transforming it from a non-existent channel into a primary driver of revenue. Their goal was to establish a scalable, data-informed strategy that would deliver a significant return on investment.
How Purebred Made an Impact
We began by recruiting a broad and diverse network of affiliates, including content creators, bloggers, premium publications, review sites, technology solutions, online marketplaces, and many other types. Our initial goal was to build a strong foundation and identify which types of partners were most effective.
Through a rigorous data analysis process, we quickly identified that a specific segment – YouTube creators – was driving a disproportionate amount of high quality traffic and sales. Based on this key insight, we refined our strategy to heavily focus on cultivating partnerships with prominent YouTubers in the grilling and outdoor space.
The data-driven approach allowed us to accelerate growth while maintaining a highly profitable channel. We continued to nurture our diverse mix of affiliates to ensure a robust and resilient program, but our emphasis on high-performing YouTubers proved to be a game-changer.

The demand we generated was so substantial that the brand had a difficult time keeping products in stock. The results shown in this case study were achieved despite us having to drive a significant portion of sales on back-order, demonstrating that the program’s true potential was far greater than the numbers show.
Major Untracked Revenue
We figured out quickly that a significant portion of our sales weren’t tracked. Many viewers watch YouTube on a TV and then go directly to the brand’s website to make a purchase, bypassing the trackable affiliate link. This under-attribution means our true impact likely pushed monthly revenue well over $100k and accounted for 50%+ of their total revenue.
High Price, Premium Product
A higher price point product, like Spider Grills ~$1,000 grill, is a major asset in the affiliate space. The product’s high perceived value makes it easier to recruit top-tier content affiliates. The larger commissions on a premium product provide a much stronger financial incentive for our partners to take the time to create content and promote the brand.
